Some Places Are Just a Hotel. Waypoint Is Part of the Adventure.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Isa Fehn of Isa Outdoors — an outdoor travel creator — for a family stay at Waypoint Hotel. She came with her daughter, her camera gear, and a full Central Oregon adventure itinerary. What she left with was a story worth telling.

Isa captured it well in her own words: "Some places are just a hotel. Others become part of the adventure." That's exactly what Waypoint was designed to be.

After long days exploring Tumalo Falls, hiking alpine trails, paddle boarding the Deschutes, and road tripping the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, Isa wrote that coming back to Waypoint felt like returning to a place that was genuinely welcoming for the whole family — muddy shoes, excited kids, and all.

What stood out to her:

  • Cozy fire pits and spacious, family-friendly rooms
  • The heated outdoor pool and hot tub — a nightly ritual after big adventure days
  • Complimentary bike rentals
  • Hosmer Bar for end-of-day craft cocktails
  • Easy parking and quick access to trails, restaurants, and gear shops
  • A warm, mountain-inspired aesthetic that reflects Bend's character without feeling overdone

She described the rooms as spacious and comfortable — plenty of room to spread out hiking gear, camera equipment, and paddle boards — and the hotel's location as ideal for anyone building an active Central Oregon itinerary. Smith Rock, Peter Skene Ogden overlook, sunrise on Tumalo Mountain: she did it all and came back to Waypoint each evening.

Her full write-up is a great read for anyone planning a Bend trip with family. She covers her full adventure itinerary alongside a detailed look at the hotel and why it worked so well as a basecamp.
